Showing your love to the Earth

Earth Hour is a special time that everyone might want to do something to celebrate. But the truth is that, majority of people only preserve the Earth exactly when it's Earth Hour, while still dumping toxic waste and using water excessively during the rest of the year. But did you know that you can be a hero for Earth every single day, with just a few small changes to what you do?

Here are some super cool ideas to get you started!

First off, let's talk about reusing things. Instead of throwing stuff away, think about how you could use it again in a new way. Maybe that old jar could hold pens on your desk, or those empty cans could be painted and turned into plant pots. Getting creative with reusing stuff is a great way to help the planet and have fun at the same time!

Next up, let's think about water and energy. Water is super important, so we want to make sure we're not wasting it. Taking shorter showers, fixing leaky faucets, and turning off the tap when you brush your teeth are all easy ways to save water. And when it comes to energy, remember to turn off lights when you leave a room and unplug things like chargers when you're not using them. These little actions might seem small, but they add up to make a big difference!

Now, let's talk about getting around. Instead of always driving everywhere, why not try walking, biking, or sharing a ride with friends or family? Using cars less helps to keep the air clean and reduces pollution, plus it's good for your health and saves money on gas!

Another easy thing you can do is use a reusable water bottle instead of buying lots of plastic ones. It's better for the environment and saves you money in the long run. And what is more? Here in VinUni, we even have water booths so that you don’t have to buy a bottle of water to quench your thirst! Just bring your own bottle or cup to take water from those booths, and that’s good to go.

And last but not least, how about planting? Planting trees, flowers, or even just some herbs in pots on your windowsill can help make the air cleaner and provide homes for birds and insects. In VinUni, trees are carefully nurtured, and we even have a rose garden. They don’t just make the space greener, they also have a positive impact on students’ mental health!

Remember, Earth Hour is just one occasion to promote the contribution of people in preserving the Earth – it was not created to be the only day we need to preserve the Earth in a year! So why not start making some of these small changes today? You'll be helping the planet and making a difference, one little step at a time.

Sincerely,
