Lights-out: What’s in the dark?

Earth Hour is indeed a wonderful opportunity to gather together to appreciate the planet we call "home". While lights-out may disrupt your usual activities, why don't we transform it into a perfect time to promote sustainability, mindfulness, and physical connection with nature and other friends? Let's delve into some captivating activities that make Earth Hour an unforgettable experience!

Remember the old days when every family in your neighborhood got together whenever there was a lights-out? Adults usually took part in long conversations, filled with waves of laughter, while the kids played around with traditional games. Let's bring those nostalgic memories to life by gathering your friends for a cozy and meaningful gathering. Elevate the atmosphere with melodic songs and dances that release all stress and sadness. You can also immerse yourselves in the dark with deep conversations, and personal stories to increase the bond with your beloved.

2. Board games

Round up a group of friends for an enchanting evening of classic board games illuminated by the gentle flicker of candles. This nostalgic and engaging activity will definitely evoke laughter and joy, transporting you to a realm where time stands still! Spice up the excitement by introducing additional challenges or playful penalties for those who lose the games.

3. Campus walk

For those who stay in the dorm, it's a perfect time to take a leisurely stroll around our campus, exploring hidden places and immersing ourselves in natural surroundings. The absence of artificial light may also provide a unique opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the night sky and the peacefulness of the environment.

4. Meditation and Mindfulness

If you're not a social butterfly or simply want to spend this tranquil time by yourself, try practicing meditation or mindfulness exercises. This can be a deeply calming and introspective experience, allowing you to reconnect with your inner self and the world around you. Set the mood by lighting some scented candles to enhance relaxation. Moreover, you can also find a serene spot away from city lights and spend time observing the stars.

By participating in these activities during the lights-out period, you not only honor Earth Day but also create lasting memories and connections. Embracing the simplicity of life without artificial lighting can lead to profound moments of reflection and appreciation for the natural world. Let's make this Earth Day a reminder of the beauty and importance of preserving our planet.

Remember, the lights may be out, but our spirits shine bright as we come together to celebrate Earth Day in a unique and impactful way.

Sincerely,

VinUnians.
